Pacific Sun Passenger Cleared of Meningococcal

P&O Cruises said health authorities have advised that a passenger who was evacuated from Pacific Sun last night (August 29) has been cleared of meningococcal disease.

"We have been advised by QLD Public Health late today that the passenger does not have meningococcal disease," a spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said the cause of the 51-year-old man’s illness could not be disclosed for privacy reasons but did not pose any threat to other passengers or crew on the ship.

Pacific Sun is continuing on its eight night voyage to the South Pacific and will return to Sydney on Monday, September 6.
