P&O Cruises has introduced new ways to stay fit, get active and have fun while on a cruising holiday with a new range of sporting and fitness activities introduced by the cruise line.
An Australian first, Bootcamp-at-Sea is perfect for passengers seeking a high intensity workout. The daily program, which will be introduced across the fleet on sailings from April, includes group fitness sessions designed to challenge passengers and improve their fitness levels.
Passengers are assessed before the program and monitored to reach their goals throughout the cruise by a licensed instructor. Activities include obstacle courses and intensive workouts.
Bootcamp-at-Sea comes after the successful launch of the Beach Sports program late last year – a series of games including barefoot cricket, football, beach volleyball and soccer - where passengers participate in friendly matches against fellow guests and crew members after a day exploring the islands of Ouvea, Isle of Pines and Mystery Island.
Sture Myrmell, Vice President Hotel Operations at P&O Cruises, said these new sporting and fitness activities would be embraced by sport loving, health conscious passengers.
"Sport is a fundamental part of the Australian lifestyle and we have created activities to cater for the growing number of people who want to stay fit and be active, even when they are on holidays," Mr Myrmell said.
‘‘The activities are a great way for passengers, particularly families, to mix with other passengers and interact with crew."
Sydney-based superliner Pacific Dawn features 11 decks with two swimming pools, a choice of five evening dining areas, nine bars and lounges, "The Dome" entertainment area, a two-storey show lounge and fitness centre.
Meanwhile, Australia’s favourite ship, Pacific Sun, now features a new child-free Oasis spa retreat, ocean-view gym and coffee bar, as well as five restaurants and cafes, multiple bars and lounges and two pools for the adults.
