P&O Cruises is offering travellers the ideal way to experience the stunning scenery and gourmet delights of Tasmania, with an eight-night summer cruise to the island State on board the luxurious Pacific Princess.
Departing Sydney on December 10, 2004, Pacific Princess will take its passengers to some of Tasmania’s most memorable destinations, enabling them to experience the natural wonder which has earned the State a reputation as one of the world’s most beautiful islands.
P&O Cruises Managing Director Gavin Smith said the Tasmanian cruise was a first for Pacific Princess and was already generating strong interest.
“Tasmania offers some of Australia’s finest wine and produce, as does Pacific Princess, so passengers on this cruise will indulge in myriad onboard and onshore culinary experiences, while enjoying the stylish comfort for which Pacific Princess is renowned,” Mr Smith said.
Pacific Princess will sail via Melbourne to Devonport, gateway to a region well known for producing milk, honey, grass-fed beef, farm cheeses and sweet berries – all the ingredients for a delicious introductory taste of Tasmania.
From there, she will cruise to Coles Bay on the East Coast’s stunning Freycinet Peninsula, where passengers can enjoy a visit to the breathtaking Wineglass Bay, voted one of the world’s best beaches by US-based Outside magazine.
A stop in Hobart offers an opportunity to explore fascinating historic Salamanca Place and discover the heritage city’s many antique shops, restaurants and cafes.
Pacific Princess will also berth at the State’s most significant historical site, Port Arthur, offering visitors a memorable insight into Tasmania’s penal past as well as views of the picturesque Tasman Peninsula.
Mr Smith said the cruise promised to be a truly indulgent experience.
“There could be no better way to see Australia’s own beautiful island State than on Australia’s own beautiful cruise ship, Pacific Princess.”
Fares for Pacific Princess’ Southern Paradise Tasmanian itinerary start at $2125 per person twin share, including main meals and entertainment.
