P&O Cruises has announced its largest ever program of cruises from New Zealand in 2010, giving holidaymakers more choice and contributing more than $9 million to the local economy.
The only locally-based ship in Auckland, Pacific Sun will sail on a record nine cruises from April 3, 2010, with voyages ranging from four to 21 nights.
A highlight of the program will be three voyages to Norfolk Island, a historic destination for the cruise line given its role as P&O Cruises’ first international port of call 77 years ago. Departing on April 3, 2010, the first voyage will also visit picturesque Fiji, Vanuatu and the Loyalty Islands. Fares start at $2909* per person.
The full 2010 program, which goes on sale from March 27, will offer New Zealanders more destinations than any previous season, including calls to Port Denarau in Fiji, scenic cruising past Tin Can Island and a range of visits to French Polynesian Islands.
Ann Sherry, Chief Executive Officer of Carnival Australia, which operates P&O Cruises, said the new program was tailored to the growing numbers of New Zealanders holidaying at sea. She said latest figures showed that New Zealand cruise passenger numbers surged by 29 per cent last year alone.
"Given the growing interest in cruising among New Zealanders, it’s fitting that our 2010 season will be our biggest ever, offering something for everyone and directly contributing to the local economy," Ms Sherry said.
"Demand for cruises in the New Zealand has never been stronger because people want good value and relaxing holidays to exciting destinations – and there is no better way to escape the cold winter conditions in New Zealand than a cruise!"
Other highlights of Pacific Sun’s new program include:
• A 21-night cruise to Tonga, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Samoa and Fiji on 3 May 2010. Fares start at $4969* per person.
• An 8-night voyage visiting New Caledonia’s Noumea, Isle of Pines and Ouvea on 25 April or 25 June 2010. Fares start at $1899 per person, twin share.
New Zealand’s favourite ship, Pacific Sun, provides endless fun for the whole family with five restaurants and cafes, multiple bars and lounges and two pools.
