P&O Cruises’ Pacific Sun has set a new passenger record for the cruise line, after carrying her 300,000th passenger last week.
The milestone was reached during the 47,000-tonne ship’s 168th cruise - a seven-night South Pacific voyage from Brisbane.
Known as Australia’s favourite ship, the 1950-passenger Pacific Sun first debuted in the Australian market in 2004, and has now carried more passengers than any other ship that has sailed under the P&O Cruises Australia flag.
Presently based in Brisbane, Pacific Sun offers relaxing South Pacific and Queensland cruises. In May, she will sail from Auckland for a three-month season of cruises to the South Pacific, while in December she will relocate to Fremantle for P&O Cruises’ inaugural season of cruises from Western Australia.
Last September, Pacific Sun underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment, which included a new all-white exterior, the addition of a child-free oasis retreat, a dedicated coffee bar and the relocation of the gym to offer views over the ship’s stern.
